What to expect at 'Explore & Develop - Norwest'... Explore & Develop is a uniquely designed child care centre in located in the heart of the Norwest Business Park in Baulkham Hills. The centre operates four playrooms, each stocked with resources to suit the developmental level and competence of the age group to which it caters. Our staff team hold many years experience in the childcare profession, and many have gone on to complete tertiary studies to further extend their skills and abilities in early childhood. Our centre prides itself on it's emergent philosophy and programs that are focussed on children's interest and curiosities. Our staff plan meaningful expereinces for all children on a daily basis which enables them to extend their thinking, skills and knowledge in a variety of areas including;

Information about our playrooms Bilbys birth to 18 months …. We treasure the time children take to grow
At Explore and Develop Norwest we understand that babies need love, attention and the ability to explore the world around them. We provide them with a safe loving environment within which they can explore and provide them with the equipment to do so.
They have their own outdoor playground, separated from older children so that they can move around at their own pace.
The Bilbys also have 2 very quiet, dark sleep rooms ensuring the babies have good solid sleep periods. Our staff ensure that babies are cared for in their home routine and that good written and verbal communication with parents is maintained.
What is provided for this age group?

…. We are discovering all that is around us
We love to do a lot of things now that we can. Now that we can walk and run we have so much independance to choose what we would like to do. We are able to use the words we are learning to talk to our friends and teachers.
Sometimes we like to play with our friends and sometimes are like to play alone, as long as we have lots to do we are happy. Making a mess with paint and playdough is really fun and sometimes it is great just to sit in the sandpit.
Some Koalas are having one afternoon sleep on a bed while others are still enjoying their cot. Teachers encourage those Koalas who are learning to use the toilet.
What is provided for this age group?
"I was hesitant about leaving my 2 girls with anyone and returning to work. Explore and Develop were so good with my first child that I decided to go back to work after only 3 months with my second child and trusted them to provide the care she needed." Possums 2 1/2 to 3 1/2 years
…. We provide a haven for everyday discovery and learning
This group of children are busy, curious and love to find out what is happening and why. This is such an important age where children are fiercely independent, however not always able, but we love to encourage them to try and do it for themselves, and it is wonderful to see them succeed.
Our staff encourage the children to ask all the questions, and to have a go, they are noisy, messy and generally fun to be around. We provide them with all the equipment and experiences to try to satisfy their curiosity. It is wonderful to see them start to co-operate and play together as they make connections and new friends.
We help them start to understand their emotions and help them make sense of the ‘rules’. At this age they have a mixture of imagination and what is actually real. They are greatly assisted by explanations of things, often in return to their questions ‘why?’
We love to see them start to develop their self help skills especially around meal times and in the toilet.

Wombats 3 1/2 to 6 years
…. We help children reach their full potential
Our wombats are developing into wonderful little people, confident and independent. We help them to expand their imaginations and allow them to explore more of the world around them. Independence is important to them, especially as we are preparing them for school.
We set clear rules and guidelines together so that they have the tools to deal with the situations that arise in life. They are exploring and understanding more fully their emotions, including happiness, sadness, anger and feeling scared, and we love it when they show empathy for one another.
We work with local schools and pediatric professionals to ensure that our preschool program is providing the correct outcomes for kindergarten. The children enjoy group activities such as telling and listeningto one another's news, table activities like sorking and grouping and of course drawing.
As most of the children are preparing for school next year, some of our children are no longer sleeping during the day so we provide a range of quiet activities for those who wish to rest after lunch.
